Breakfast at home with Patrick: two biscuits with butter, pork sausage, scrambled eggs with green onions, 8 ounces of orange juice, hot water. Set up the new inkjet printer. I bought a Canon XP-7100, which narrowly edged out the Brother MFC-J690DW because it duplex scans and duplex copies and has better print quality. I ignored printer advice from The Wirecutter because their picks were all too large of a footprint for our small place. The MFC-J690DW is slightly smaller than the Canon XP-7100, but the latter's additional features are worth the slightly larger footprint to me. The Canon XP-7100 is replacing a Brother MFC-845cw which has served us well for, incredibly, 13 years but which lately has encountered text ghosting issues that I am unable to easily resolve. Housecleaning: dusting and vacuuming. Edited and uploaded photos to Flickr. Lunch: I prepared for myself mung bean noodle soup with herbs and mystery sauce packet found in the spice drawer. Nap. Dinner at home with Patrick: Marcella Hazan's embogoné (cranberry beans, sage, and rosemary) over deli-fresh pappardelle, beer for me, hurricane for Patrick, tap water for both. Dessert: chocolate ice cream with sliced almonds. Afterwards we finished watching Burn After Reading (2008) on Netflix DVD then watched Comedians of the World: Ivan Decker on Netflix instant watch. We didn't laugh very much, but we made it through the whole set. Archived documents—the first scans on the new Canon XP-7100. Recharge Medical work: editing.
